Audio & Teleprompter

Audio recording

Audio recording captures your microphone and system audio without any video. This mode is designed for narration, voiceover takes, and quick audio capture.

Starting an audio recording

Open the recorder and select Audio mode from the control bar. The recorder switches to a simplified view with a live waveform display and audio level meters.

Select your microphone and system audio source from the dropdowns on the control bar. You can mute either source independently.

Click Record to start. If countdown is enabled in recording settings, a countdown plays before capture begins. Use Pause and Resume to control the session, and Stop when you are finished.

Live monitoring

The audio recorder shows real-time feedback while you record:

  • A combined waveform display visualizing both microphone and system audio.
  • A microphone level indicator on the control bar showing your input activity.
  • A system audio level meter showing what is coming from your computer.
  • Mute state indicators so you can see at a glance which sources are active.

This helps you catch problems like a muted mic, silence, or clipping before you finish a take.

Audio settings

Audio quality settings are shared with screen recording and configured in the recording settings window:

  • Echo cancellation: reduces echo from speakers feeding back into the microphone (default: on).
  • Noise suppression: reduces background noise from the microphone input (default: on).

After recording

When you stop, the audio file is automatically imported into your media library. You can add it to the timeline immediately or save it for later use. Recorded audio is tagged with a recording source so you can distinguish it from uploads and other media.

Teleprompter

The teleprompter is a standalone window that scrolls your script while you record. It works with all recording modes (screen, camera, and audio) and helps you deliver scripted content without memorizing or looking away from the camera.

Opening the teleprompter

Click the Teleprompter button on the control bar. The teleprompter opens as a separate window that you can position on any monitor alongside your recording setup.

Loading your script

You can prepare your script in two ways:

  • Type or paste text directly into the teleprompter.
  • Import from a project: click Import Script and select a project to pull its script content.

The teleprompter saves your text locally, so it is still there when you reopen the window.

Scrolling controls

  • Play / Pause: start or stop automatic scrolling. You can also press Space.
  • Speed: adjust the scroll speed from 1 to 20. Use and arrow keys to adjust while scrolling.
  • Manual scroll: use the mouse wheel to move through the script at your own pace when scrolling is paused.

When you start a recording, the teleprompter automatically begins scrolling if it has script text loaded. It pauses when you pause the recording and stops when you stop.

Display settings

Customize the teleprompter appearance for your setup:

  • Font size: 16px to 100px.
  • Margin: control horizontal padding (2% to 20%) to narrow or widen the text column.
  • Alignment: left or center.
  • Background color: any color (default: black).
  • Text color: any color (default: white).
  • Mirror: flip the text horizontally for use with a mirror teleprompter rig.
