Getting Started with Cenematic

Cenematic lets you describe a video and watch it come together. You set the style, generate a script, pick a voice, and direct the scenes, then finish everything in a full timeline editor. This guide covers installation, account setup, and creating your first project.

What Cenematic Is

Cenematic is a desktop app that combines AI generation with hands-on editing. Instead of starting from a blank timeline and assembling everything manually, you start with an idea and let the guided creation flow build out the script, voiceover, and visuals for you. Once the structure is in place, you step into the editor to refine the result.

  • The desktop app handles all creation, editing, and exporting.
  • The web app handles account access, billing, and downloads.
  • Your account syncs across both so your projects, credits, and subscription stay connected.

Before You Begin

Have these ready before you start:

  • A Cenematic account
  • A stable internet connection for AI generation, syncing, and downloads
  • Free disk space for source media, cached assets, and exports

Review the dedicated System Requirements page if you need a clear setup checklist.

Create Your Account

If you do not already have an account:

  1. Create your account from the Wayaframe sign-up page using your preferred sign-in method. Cenematic uses the same account system as Wayaframe.
  2. Verify your email if prompted.
  3. Choose a subscription plan that matches your usage.
  4. Sign in to the Cenematic desktop app with the same account.

After sign-in, you will land in your main workspace where you can open projects, the media library, ideas, and settings.

Install the App

  1. Download the Cenematic desktop build for your operating system from the Wayaframe apps page.
  2. Install the app:
    • macOS: open the downloaded .dmg and drag Cenematic into your Applications folder.
    • Windows: run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
  3. Launch the app and sign in with your Cenematic account.

Your First Project

The fastest way to learn Cenematic is to complete one short project from start to finish.

Step 1: Create a new project

Open Projects, click Create in the sidebar, and complete the setup in the new project modal.

In that modal, you will:

  • Choose a Project Type: Generate with AI or Blank Canvas
  • Enter a Name
  • Choose a Resolution
  • Set a Background Color
  • Optionally select a Brand Kit

If you choose Generate with AI, Cenematic walks you through the guided creation flow. If you choose Blank Canvas, Cenematic opens the editor directly.

Step 2: Move through the guided creation flow

If you chose Generate with AI, Cenematic opens a four-step flow that builds the video around your input. Each step handles one layer of the project:

  1. Video Style: set the visual direction, category, and duration for the video.
  2. Script: describe what the video should say and let AI draft the script, or paste your own.
  3. Voice Designer: pick a voice, generate the narration, or skip this step if the video does not need a voiceover.
  4. Scene Director: turn the script into scenes, generate visuals for each one, and adjust the timing before moving to the editor.

Video Style and Scene Director are required. Script and Voice Designer can be skipped if you prefer to add your own content later in the editor.

Step 3: Finish in the editor

Once you continue to the editor, you have full control over the project:

Step 4: Export the result

Open the export panel from the editor header. Choose a resolution, format, and quality preset, then set the output folder. Cenematic renders the video in the background and shows progress in a notification. Once it finishes, click Show File to jump straight to the exported video.

Where Things Live

Cenematic is split into two environments: the main app where you manage projects and assets, and the editor where you build the video.

Main app

The sidebar on the left is your starting point. From there you can open Projects to manage your work, browse the Library to find uploaded media, or open Settings to manage your account and preferences.

Editor

The editor is organized around three panels:

  • The canvas in the center shows a live preview of the current frame.
  • The inspector on the right lets you adjust the selected clip's position, styling, effects, and timing.
  • The timeline at the bottom is where you arrange, trim, and layer clips across tracks.

Tips for Your First Project

  • Start with Generate with AI so you can see every step of the guided flow in action.
  • Keep the duration short. A 30 to 60 second video is enough to explore the full workflow without waiting on long renders.
  • Use the script step to set the structure of your video. Even a few sentences give the Scene Director better material to work with.
  • Preview scenes before moving to the editor. Regenerating a scene in the guided flow is faster than replacing it later on the timeline.
  • Once you are in the editor, focus on timing and order first, then polish visuals and effects.
