The canvas is the main visual workspace in the editor.

What The Preview Area Does

The current preview area lets you:

see the current frame of the project
select content from the canvas
request crop or replace actions
zoom and fit the canvas
switch into fullscreen preview modes

The preview is tied closely to the current editor selection.

That means clip and element changes in the timeline or inspector are reflected immediately in the canvas view.

Cenematic also supports quick media replacement and crop flows directly from the preview context.

That makes the preview more than just a playback surface. It is also part of the editing workflow.
