Import Recordings

Wayaframe's recorder is connected to the media workflow, so recorded output can come back into the app as usable media instead of staying outside the project.

What Gets Imported

The current recording import flow supports:

  • Video recordings
  • Audio recordings
  • Separate camera clips when camera import is enabled

Wayaframe treats these files as recorded media, which keeps the source type distinct from uploads, AI-generated assets, and stock media.

How Recorded Files Are Named

When recordings are imported, the app creates media names based on the recorded file name.

If a clip is imported as a companion camera recording, Wayaframe appends a camera label so it stays distinct from the primary capture.

What Metadata Is Preserved

The current import flow records metadata such as:

  • Recording role, such as primary or camera
  • Recorded time
  • Video dimensions
  • Duration
  • Frame rate
  • Codec details when available

Video recordings also trigger thumbnail generation and preview-proxy preparation so they behave like normal library video assets.

Where Recordings Go

Imported recordings are stored as media items, which means you can:

  • Reuse them later
  • Add them to the timeline
  • Organize them like other media

This is the main bridge between the desktop recorder and the rest of the editor workflow.

Best Use Cases

Use the recording import flow when:

  • You want screen captures to land in your media library automatically
  • You need separate camera footage for later editing
  • You want recorded audio available as a reusable project asset
